EYA High School Girls Showcase

After almost a decade, EYA Sports has provided both boys and girls with an opportunity to showcase their skills at our annual EYA High School Showcase. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a drawback in initiating events for our female athletes. Let’s just say our 2022 EYA HS Girls Showcase was worth the wait. Out of the 20 young ladies, all have the ability to play on the next level. Here are some of the names to watch this year and beyond.

CLASS OF 2023

Kali Freeman/C/ Peachtree Academy High

This young lady is an all around player. She will fill up the stat sheet in every category. She plays in the paint, but she was also notably a finalist in the 3 point competition at our camp. She rebounds hard and plays hard on ball defense. She should have a wonderful senior season.

Trinity Layton/SG/Luella High

Trinity was a standout player at the camp, playing at a very high level. She had a great personality, very mature in leadership, and poised throughout the scrimmaging games. She handled the ball well and got to any position she wanted on the court. When she got in the paint, she finished with power and through contact. She also comes down from the perimeter to rebound and get put backs to help her teammates. She shot the ball well on all 3 levels and played tenacious defense on anyone put in front of her. Definitely one to have on the list of top guards in the state of GA.

Azariah Taylor/PG/Morrow High

Azariah is a quick guard that pushes the ball up the court and controls the floor well. Even though she was small in stature, she showed the ability to get her shot off amongst the big girls. Great on the ball defender and she showed the ability to pick up 94 feet and make life hard for opponents.  All around solid PG and she should make Morrow tough to beat this year.

Sophia Vazquez/SG/ Morrow High

Tough guard that plays hard on every play. She has the ability to score on all 3 levels but she is the best behind the arc. She showed a great understanding of team defense by often being in the right position to help her teammates out when they got beat. She will be a good addition to any school that recruits her.

CLASS OF 24

Atiana Gilchrist/PG/ Peach County High

Quiet young lady that makes all her noise on the court. She scored effectively anywhere on the court. She is very powerful going to the paint and when she gets there it always ends well. She also has the ability to play off the ball and make shots from midrange and the 3 point level. Smart player that really showed an understanding of where to be and what to do at all times. These next 2 years should be successful for this young lady.

Kameah Hill/F/ Luella High

This young lady had an attitude that was all about getting better. She plays hard on every play and leaves it all on the floor. On offense she played off the ball well and was always in position to make the right play. On defense she was all over her opponents and created turnover by jumping passing lanes. With 2 seasons left in high school, she should get better and be on everyone’s list.

Kayla Williams/F/ Luella High

Kayla was surprisingly athletic for her size. In drills, she really got off the ground for layups. She showed the ability to shoot from all 3 levels even though she was banging in the paint most times. On defense, she blocked quite a few shots straight up and came off the ball to help. She was able to rebound and start the break, helping her team get easy baskets. Loved her all around game. Will be big time by her senior year.

CLASS OF 25

Loni Gipson/G/Alpharetta High.

Loni was the overall winner of our 3 point competition. She is a shooter that is not afraid to put it up. Very aggressive on offense looking for her shoot. Played good tough nose on ball defense and also jumped passing lanes for steals. She has 3 seasons left and I know she will continue to get better. Look out!

Zana Justice/C/Luella High

Very skilled post player that fights for everything in the paint. She uses her strong body well when making moves and finishing with either hand. She is a great offensive rebounder because she has a nose for where the ball is coming off. She controls the paint defensively also by blocking shots and snatching rebounds. With her work ethic she will be a major player by 2025.

Alissa Sandifer/G/Newton County

Baller. She is a super quick guard that ran the floor and finished easy buckets. She showed the ability to score on all 3 levels also. She was the runner up in our 3 point contest and didn’t lose by much. This young lady can handle the ball well and get wherever she needs to on the court. She also is a great defender. She smothered her opponents on the ball and off the ball quickly shot passing lanes for steals. She will shine at Newton and wherever she plays at the next level.

DeAsia Stinson/G/Northgate High

A very mature player that really understands the game at a young age. She came off picks on the ball and attacked the paint finishing with both hands effectively. She shot the ball well on all 3 levels. Defensively she sat down and worked while on the ball and off the ball she was always in the right position. Again with her maturity she is a very humble and coachable player that will be a joy to have on any team. Look out for her in the class of 25.

Kitali Youmans/G/ Mt Paran High

Tough and gritty guard that was always on the attack. She got in the paint and finished with both hands. She also set up her teammates for open shots and layups. She shot the ball well on all 3 levels and showed great range. Great on the ball defender. Future is bright for this young lady.

CLASS OF 26

Zoey Jackson/G/Newton County High

Gritty guard that plays hard every second she is on the court. She is a SHOOTER. She stretched the floor with her range and when defenders ran out at her she penetrated for layups and played for teammates. She also is great on defense both on the ball and away from it. She is a joy to watch play and will only get better by 2026.

Angel Thomas/F/Luella High School

Love of the game is what makes this young lady special. She is out there having a great time. She also was very quick for her size and very bouncy when going up for rebounds. She will get you every loose ball and get on the glass for easy put backs. Performs well shooting midrange and ahead based on her age range. Extended her range will make her more dangerous. Energetic on defense, she made a lot of great plays to help her team. One to watch for the next 4 years.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS

Kennyiah Eaves/G/TMSA Middle

Looked good in drills and game play. She showed the ability to score around the basket and with mid range jump shots. She is long and used that to play great defense. She blocked shots and got steals by jumping passing lanes. She is just a 6th grader now and already has skills well beyond her years. She will be a very special player by 2028 when she graduates.

Sofia Louis-Pierre/G/ Capstone Academy

You know when you can look at someone and tell they can play. Sofia has a basketball body, having both long arms and quick feet. She can shoot the ball on all 3 levels. She can guard all 5 positions on the court because of her size and length. She rebounded very well. You can tell she just loves to play when you watch her. Scary part is she is an 8th grader and will only get bigger and smoother. Her potential in being a prolific scorer as a small forward is monumental.
