Morrow, GA (December 27, 2019) — The Lady Knights of Saint Francis (Alpharetta, GA) cruised past the Lady Bears of Griffin High School (Griffin, GA) in the final girls’ basketball of the South Atlanta Invitational at Clayton State University. From the beginning, the fundamental soundness of the Lady Knights was on displayed as they stayed poised throughout the game.

The freshmen were on full display on both sides as Griffin’s freshman Samiah Puckett displayed her rebounding and defensive skills along with her physicality against a good Saint Francis team. Puckett played a pivotal role in the matchup against Saint Francis as she was aggressive in the paint and held her own throughout the competition ending with eight points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. On the other end, Sant Francis had a freshman to pay attention to as well.

At the end of the third quarter, senior Savannah Samuels was leading all scorers with 19 points pushing the Lady Knights to a comfortable 30 point lead. Samuels was stellar in transition throughout the game and was showcasing her jumper every opportunity was given. Samuels was not the only Lady Knight on the star-studded squad contributing to the team’s success against Griffin. Junior Mia Moore reflected what every coach wants in a point guard as she displayed her stellar ball-handling and IQ while being a key leader of the defense. It was Moore’s distributing that was most eye-catching tonight as she was especially good in transition. Samuels and Moore contributed to a well-played third quarter by the Lady Knights.

Although the loaded Saint Francis team controlled the ball game, Griffin continued to play their game of basketball getting good bouts of action sporadically throughout the contest. The Lady Bears played good defense but Saint Francis proved to be too much as they never let their lead diminish.
